Hazel Iris + Mally Harpaz + Ciara Clifford / £6adv £8otd

Blind Dog Studio Presents: Hazel Iris + Mally Harpaz + Ciara Clifford

Californian songstress Hazel Iris performs a set of her quirky folk-inspired indie songs, accompanied by accordion, cello, guitar and percussion (Mally Harpaz). With a dark and playful attitude to writing music, her unique sound blends crystalline vocals with a twist of magic. Through the traditions of romantic lieder, vaudeville, and contemporary styles she celebrates the high art of storytelling.

www.facebook.com/hazelirismusic

Multi instrumentalist Mally Harpaz (Anna Calvi, Hazel Iris, Eran Karniel, Jessica Lauren) performs her original compositions joined by a small number of phenomenal musicians and special guests. These distinct pieces were mainly written as part of a collaboration with award-winning video artist Clara Aparicio Yoldi. Mally’s reverence for the profound creates mysterious melodic lines and shares a luscious ambience with other contemporary pioneers such as Steve Reich, Max Richter, and Nils Frahm.

Ciara’s music is an inspired mix of rock, folk, and the rip-roaring alternative kind of sound most of our generation was born to love". (Em Burfitt – Inspirer Magazine)
She recorded her first self-funded, self-titled album in 2017 and is now bringing this dynamic sound to the stage, accompanied by bass (Pablo Rodriguez) and drums (Mally Harpaz).

Healthy Bones + Hannah Nicholson / £6

Bakery Boy Presents
Halthy Bones + Hannah Nicholson

Healthy Bones
Healthy bones is the new project from writer Dan Masters. Masters has amassed an impressive amount of airplay across BBC Radio 1 & 2, 6 music, and Radio X with previous projects and his re-emergence under the Healthy bones guise marks a welcome return.
Healthy Bones music consists entirely of real instruments, yet still draws a comparison to acts such as M83, Empire of the sun, Bon Iver & Radiohead. In a generation reliant on technology for dynamics and feel, Healthy bones’ EP is a rare thing of beauty…
For fans of indie music with nostalgia for guitars and a penchant for big, lush, intelligent melodic hooks & dynamics, Healthy Bones may just be your new favourite act...
‘Take it from me’ the first single is out on 18th December 2017.

Hannah Nicholson
Blending soulful melancholia with the controlled artistry of a classically trained singer, Hannah Nicholson gives voice to the light and dark of human emotion.
Having previously performed as one half of the Manchester-based psych-folk duo Bird to Beast, coupled with her extensive session work – including Maz (snarky puppy) and Ellie Goulding- she has now crafted her own individual musical identity: a blend of choral, electro and folk, stitched together with a thread that runs from J.S. Bach to Jane Weaver.
Her first eponymously titled EP (produced by Jim Spencer at EVE studios and released in 2017) sets the tone of whats to come.

ELEPHANT

We are Elephant, based in East London and formed last year with our first gig on NYE supporting Love Buzzard.

Mixing garage rock and roll with 80s synth pop with tasteful classic melodies
2016 saw us embark on two U.K. tours as well as multiple festivals. Over summer we released our debut single Lizard Man, a joint venture between two small independent labels, RYP Records and Fort Records. We also supported Gordon Raphael (producer, The Strokes) on the London date of his European tour, where he approached us about working with us on our album.
We are proud of what we have created on this record and are looking forward to a year of music and mayhem!! Join us

DARK TIDES
Dark Tides are an emerging East London-based four-piece. Influenced by the likes of Joy Division, Bauhaus and The Tubes, they play dark vivid anthems and perform high octane live shows.

PHANTOM ISLE
Psych-Pop disco inferno from North London. Slathered in sun drenched guitars and rolling synths, reminiscent of Tame Impala, Peace and Suede. Phantom Isle brothers Pete and Matt, alongside childhood friends Sam and Josh introduce first cuts ‘Channel’ and ‘Nightmare''

Mondegreen Folk Club back at Ryan's N16!!

Mondegreen is a folk club (with Irish and English social/political folk roots) where everyone is welcome. Featuring a mixture of floor spots and pre-booked acts, everyone is encouraged (cajoled? pestered?) to join in. People perform from where they sit so there's no divide between the audience and the music. It's lovely. (But then we would say that, wouldn't we...) (No, but really it is. DHP Family Presents:
FRIGS
Live at RYANS N16

FRIGS is a Toronto-based band that pairs the raw, emotional grunge of PJ Harvey with the immersive, psychedelic post-punk of early Sonic Youth. With each member bringing a unique set of influences, FRIGS creates a sound that is hard to pin down and an impression that’s unshakable.

Led by the force of Bria’s vocals, the band has earned a reputation for putting on an hypnotic and visceral live performance. Embracing the mercurial and experimental, their shows are built upon instinct; a vocal growl can unexpectedly give way to a hushed whisper; languid drones boil over into guttural and searing tones.

Maintaining the communal, do-it-yourself spirit of their forbearers, the band bought recording equipment and turned their Toronto apartment into a studio where they wrote, engineered, and mixed their 2016 Slush EP and two-sided single hest / Trashyard
